I’m currently somewhere between Michigan and Florida, on my second flight, and just a few hours away from what might be one of my favorite moments in a long time.
A surprise.
My best friend and her family are in Ft. Myers on vacation.
She begged me to come.
Her daughters begged me to come.
Her husband — the fantastic human that he is — didn’t just ask… he insisted.
“Just come,” he said.
“You need this. She needs this. Just come.”
And the truth is… I wanted to.
But I was also nervous.
Because doing “family” things…
and “couple” things…
without Marc still feels off.
Like I’m stepping into something that used to belong to a different version of my life.
Still, he was right.
So I said yes.
And we turned it into a secret.
For weeks.
Weeks of keeping this under wraps while her entire family gave me absolute hell for not going.
Relentless.
Malicious.
No holds barred.
The amount of times I heard:
“We’re going to Florida… you can stay there and put your chooch up.”
(IYKYK.)
It’s honestly infinite at this point.
And all the while…
her husband and I have been quietly texting and laughing like absolute children.
“They’re going to flip.”
“They have NO idea.”
“This is going to be so good.”
And it really is.
I just boarded my second flight.
In a few hours, I’ll see their faces.
And I genuinely cannot wait.
I think her husband might be just as excited as I am to watch it all unfold.
He is one of a kind.
The kind of man who loves his wife so much that making her this happy matters deeply to him.
It’s rare.
And it makes my heart really happy to witness.
A lot like Marc in that way.
Sometimes life surprises you in ways you didn’t expect.
And sometimes… you get to be the surprise.
I’ll report back after the chaos.

but you get the idea!
Leaving on a Jet Plane…
to Surprise My Bestie
